Andris Lagsdin found inspiration from Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking and turned home-based pizza making on it’s head. Andris created The Baking Steel which allows anyone at home to create crispy, crunchy Neapolitan style crusts you might find in a wood or coal-fired oven.
The first big challenge for Andris and his baking steel was how to introduce this to the market. He turned to Kickstarter and decided to give it a go. He used the power of crowdsourcing to help get the word out about his baking steel, and raise money for the first production run.
I will have a full review of The Baking Steel coming up shortly, but I have used it, and I know it makes some good pizzas.
If you get a chance to purchase a Baking Steel, let them know you heard about it from us here at Food Craftsmen.
